We are supporting a leading enterprise in their transition from Oracle Java to open-source Java solutions (e.g., Azul JDK). The main objective is to identify, migrate, and validate Java installations across a large server estate (Windows, Linux, Unix), ensuring application compatibility and eliminating unnecessary licensing costs. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. 

Important: This position does not involve Java software development. All development activities are handled by the client’s internal teams. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Review existing Java installations and map to the appropriate open-source version. 

• Uninstall Oracle Java and install compliant JDKs (such as Azul JDK) following provided instructions. 

• Execute pre- and post-migration smoke tests to confirm application functionality (launch, navigation, PDF export, etc.). 

• Document installation paths and technical details. 

• Troubleshoot and escalate issues to Java Technical Experts as needed. 

• Ensure compliance with data security and GDPR requirements. 

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Application Owners, and other technical teams. 

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Java environments (installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting). 

• Strong understanding of JDK distributions (Oracle, OpenJDK, Azul, etc.). 

• Experience working with Windows, Linux, and Unix servers. 

• Ability to follow structured technical instructions and processes. 

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. 

• Familiarity with basic application testing (smoke testing, regression). 

• Good communication and documentation skills. 

• Willingness to perform technical migration and support work (no coding/development tasks)
