Responsibilities

You will be part of the Secure Access Services team within Cloud Services, supporting platforms that provide secure access to production systems from environments with lower security standards. The team manages Citrix environments across Europe, supporting thousands of concurrent users, and is currently transforming its Citrix platforms from on-premise to cloud-based deployments using Citrix Cloud for access and management planes while maintaining the workload plane in on-premise datacenters. As a Senior Cloud System Engineer Citrix, you will manage on-premise and cloud-based Citrix platforms, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and help maintain secure, standardized, and compliant access services.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Citrix Platform Management:

  • Manage on-premise Citrix platforms using the full range of Citrix management services.
  • Deploy and manage cloud-based Citrix platforms and hybrid Citrix environments.
  • Work with Citrix technologies such as NetScaler, CVAD, PVS, MCS, WEM, and App Layering.
  • Support the transformation of on-premise Citrix services into cloud-based deployments.

 

Infrastructure Troubleshooting & Operations:

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues related to Windows, Active Directory, virtualization, storage, and network layers.
  • Collaborate with specialized infrastructure teams, including Active Directory, VMware, storage, and network/firewall teams.
  • Execute changes and resolve incidents following client procedures.
  • Support standardized, manageable, secure, and compliant platform operations.

 

Incident, Stand-by & User Escalation Management:

  • Participate in the single-point-of-contact rota for incident dispatching and user escalations.
  • Take part in the 24/7 stand-by rota for high-priority incidents outside office hours.
  • Work as part of an operational group resolving user incidents and escalations.
  • Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders at different levels of the organization.

 

Projects, Documentation & Security:

  • Take part in department projects such as roadmap items, client migration projects, and customer onboarding initiatives.
  • Provide appropriate technical documentation for the activities performed.
  • Apply security-minded ways of working in platforms that support access to production systems.
  • Contribute to maintaining high levels of security and compliance, including environments subject to PCI-DSS and SWIFT standards.

Qualifications

  • Senior-level experience in Citrix system engineering and platform management.
  • Extensive experience with recent on-premise versions of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), preferably version 2402 LTSR or later.
  • Extensive experience with Citrix Cloud and hybrid Citrix deployments.
  • Extensive experience with NetScaler 14.1 and Global Load Balancing.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2019 and 2022.
  • Experience implementing multi-factor authentication on Citrix, including OTP and n-factor authentication.
  • Experience with Citrix Endpoint Analysis (EPA).
  • Experience with image creation and management using PVS, MCS, and App Layering.
  • Experience with Citrix Workspace Environment Manager (WEM).
  • Good understanding of Active Directory, VMware, storage, and network/firewall topics, with the ability to communicate with specialized infrastructure teams.
  • Experience working as part of an operational group resolving user incidents, including stand-by outside office hours.
  • Experience with security standards such as PCI-DSS and SWIFT.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in an international environment.
  • Security-minded, stress-resistant, patient, and able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Certifications in cloud provider technologies such as GCP, AWS, or Azure are considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based deployment technologies such as Terraform or Puppet is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of common infrastructure tooling such as Trellix, Zabbix, Qualys, or SentinelOne is considered an advantage.
  • Understanding of compliance and security best practices in a cloud environment is considered an advantage.

  • Role is hybrid with 3 days per week from home and 2 from the office.
