Senior Linux SysOps Engineer

The Senior Linux SysOps Engineer operates and improves business-critical Linux platforms, protecting availability, performance, security and service levels across the production lifecycle. The role combines hands-on administration, proactive monitoring, advanced troubleshooting, controlled change delivery and practical automation in a high-availability environment. 

Key responsibilities 

• Administer and support enterprise Linux environments, primarily RHEL and compatible distributions, while maintaining production availability, performance and agreed service levels. 

• Monitor platform health and capacity, resolve complex L2/L3 incidents and perform root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence. 

• Deliver operating-system updates, security patches, vulnerability remediation and Linux hardening through controlled change processes. 

• Automate and standardize routine operations using scripts and configuration-management tools. 

• Maintain resilient services through high availability, failover, backup, recovery and disaster-recovery testing. 

• Tune systems and deliver production fixes from technical analysis through testing, approval and deployment. 

• Maintain clear runbooks and change records while collaborating with support, engineering, cloud and security teams. 

• Participate in the on-call rota and support priority incidents outside standard working hours when required. 

• Strong production experience administering RHEL or compatible Linux systems, including networking, storage, system resources and performance troubleshooting.
• Proven ownership of business-critical services, including monitoring, incident resolution, service improvement and SLA commitments.
• Hands-on experience with patching, vulnerability remediation, security hardening and controlled change delivery.
• Working knowledge of Shell, Python, Ansible, Puppet or equivalent automation and configuration-management tools
• Experience supporting resilient services through clustering, failover, backup validation and recovery testing.
• Clear technical documentation and English communication skills, with a proactive approach to cross-team problem ownership and on-call support.

• Hands-on operation of public or private cloud platforms and familiarity with cloud service lifecycle principles.
• Experience in payments, financial services or another regulated, high-availability, transaction-heavy environment. 
• ITIL Foundation certification or comparable evidence of practical IT service management experience. 
• Experience guiding colleagues, coordinating complex technical work or acting as a technical lead during major incidents and operational improvements.
